1. Lip-Bu Tan Appointed as Intel’s CEO
In March 2025, Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) announced the appointment of Lip-Bu Tan as its new Chief Executive Officer. A seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in the semiconductor industry, Tan officially assumed the role on March 18. He succeeds Interim Co-CEOs David Zinsner and Michelle (MJ) Johnston Holthaus and rejoined Intel’s board of directors after stepping down in August 2024.
2. Leadership Transition and Stability
As part of the transition, Zinsner will continue as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, while Johnston Holthaus remains the CEO of Intel Products. Additionally, Frank D. Yeary, who served as Interim Executive Chair during the CEO search, will return to his role as Independent Chair of the Board.

4. A Proven Leader in the Semiconductor Industry
Tan brings over two decades of leadership experience in the semiconductor and software industries. As the former CEO of Cadence Design Systems (2009-2021), he transformed the company through customer-focused innovation. Under his leadership, Cadence more than doubled its revenue, expanded operating margins, and saw a stock price increase of over 3,200%.
Beyond Cadence, Tan has been an influential investor and executive. He is the founding Managing Partner of Walden Catalyst Ventures and Chairman of Walden International. He also serves on the boards of Credo Technology Group and Schneider Electric.
5. Academic Excellence and Industry Recognition
Tan holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from MIT, and an MBA from the University of San Francisco. In 2022, he was honored with the Robert N. Noyce Award, the highest recognition from the Semiconductor Industry Association.
